Privacy at Mythreel

Mythreel is an app where people share what they care about, and AI turns it into series that others can vote for and watch. This notice explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the website (mythreel.ai), the waitlist and the Mythreel app.

What we collect and why

• Your account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture. If you sign in by email, we receive your email address. We use these to run your account, show your name on the series you create, and send you sign-in links and notifications.
• Your story answers. When you create a series, we ask about the genres you like, your ideal life, what frustrates you, the series you wish existed, and anything else you want to add. We store your answers and send them to Google’s Gemini AI (Google Cloud Vertex AI) to write your series and its pictures. Under Google Cloud’s terms, Google does not use them to train its models. You decide what you write; please don’t share anything you don’t want used this way. If you choose to share sensitive details, such as your health, beliefs or relationships, you consent to us using them for this purpose. You can withdraw that consent by asking us to delete your answers.
• What you create is public. Series made from your answers appear publicly in the app with your name. They never quote your answers.
• Votes, unlocks and diamonds. We record the diamonds you buy and spend, your votes and which series you’ve unlocked.
• Payments. Stripe handles payments. We never see your card details; we only receive confirmation of what you bought. Stripe also processes your payment data under its own privacy policy.
• Visits. When you use the app, we record your IP address, an approximate country derived from it, your time zone, language settings, browser and screen size. We use these to adapt stories to where you are, to keep the service secure, and to understand who uses Mythreel.
• Analytics. We run our own analytics (Umami, hosted on our servers). It records the pages you visit and what you do in the app, such as watching, voting and buying. A cookie called mt_aid recognises your browser for up to a year. When you’re signed in, your analytics data is linked to your name, email address and account.
• Bot protection. When you ask for a sign-in email, Google reCAPTCHA checks that you’re not a bot. It collects information about your device and use under Google’s privacy policy.
• Waitlist. If you joined the waitlist, we store your name, email address and, if you gave them, your age group and country. We use them only to manage the waitlist and contact you about early access.

Legal basis

We process your account, answers, creations, votes and payments because they’re needed to provide the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). We use visit data, analytics and bot protection based on our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving Mythreel (Art. 6(1)(f)). Sensitive details you choose to share are processed with your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)).

Who processes your data for us

Google Cloud (hosting in Belgium, AI, reCAPTCHA), Stripe (payments), Twilio SendGrid (email), and our website hosting provider. Some are based in the US or process data there. Those transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU’s standard contractual clauses. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Account data, answers and creations: until you ask us to delete your account. Visit records with your IP address: one year. Analytics: until we delete it; ask us and we will. Payment records: as long as German tax law requires (up to 10 years). Waitlist details: until the early-access programme ends, or sooner if you ask.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email contact@mythreel.ai. You can also complain to a data protection authority in Germany or in the country where you live.

Age

Mythreel is for people aged 16 and over.

Changes

If this notice changes in an important way, we’ll tell you in the app.
